Updated

We don't ask for your name or any account. Calculators and tools on this site run in your browser: what you type into them is not sent to us.

Email sign-up

If you give us your email address, we use it only to tell you, once, when CERN and Mistral publish the first Flare paper, model or release date. Then we delete it. We save the address, the page you signed up on, any campaign tag in the link you came from and the date. We don't sell it or share it, and we don't keep your IP address. To have your address removed sooner, email [email protected].

Analytics and cookies

We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn't track you across sites.

If you accept cookies, we also use Google Analytics to see which pages are useful; it sets cookies for that. You can change your mind at any time with the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.

Videos

Some pages show one of our short videos from YouTube. Nothing loads from YouTube until you press play: before that you see a still picture, which may come from YouTube's image server (i.ytimg.com, no cookies). Pressing play loads YouTube's privacy-enhanced player (youtube-nocookie.com) on the page, and YouTube's privacy policy covers what it does from then on.

When you follow an affiliate link, the seller may set its own cookie to record that you came from us. Their privacy policy applies on their site.
